This month things have picked up a gear on all fronts. with exciting new developments on placement at White, with my Artwork, and also with a few design projects I am working on for competitions and my design portfolio. In this post I will update you on all of this as best I can, enjoy!
I would like to wish A Very Happy Christmas to everyone who reads and follows this Journal of mine. It has been quite an adventure the past few months with so many projects on the go and lots of big changes, with many more to come!
So there's been a lot going on recently, a lot of work at White, exploring Switzerland, and a whole lot more as well including an exciting art piece in progress. I have mostly been focused on designing watch dials at White for multiple briefs, but have also had several other projects mixed in with it which helps to keep each day new and different.
I am very excited to announce that I am now living in Switzerland, on placement with a design consultancy firm focused on watch design for some very big and exciting brands. The firm is called 'White SA' and is based in Neuchâtel, a short journey north of Geneva. I have just finished my first full week, and have already learnt a lot of new skills on some very interesting projects, with lots more to come.
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Skeleton Double Flying Tourbillon. A complex piece of haute horlogerie with a name that is anything but skeletal, designed to display two signature devices of Roger Dubuis, the skeletonized movement and the double flying tourbillon. But to understand what Roger Dubuis have done here, we first need to ask what a skeleton watch really is?
Welcome to the brand new area of my site where you will find all the latest news and releases of my horological art as well as a large amount of watch related features in the coming months.
''I collect watches because I am always late, and I need to know exactly how late I'm going to be - in order to come up with a good excuse.'' Colin Hanks
This quote was told to me a long time ago now when I was first being introduced to the world of watches and their collectors, and to be honest it made no sense to me at all. As the watch bug has bitten me however, I understand what statements like these are truly about. Collecting watches isn't like anything else, it is a passion, an addiction, and a lifestyle.
And this is what I plan for my journal to be, a place where you can join me in that addiction, embrace the lifestyle and connect with me and my work.
I aim to keep this updated on a weekly basis, so please make a regular stop here as you browse and join in with your comments or by contacting me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is much more to come but for now just let me say again, welcome to the addiction.
